Hallandale Beach Commissioner Michele Lazarow
Black Campaign Workers Claim Michele Lazarow Called Them “Hoodlums”

According to four witnesses, Hallandale Beach Commissioner Michele Lazarow called two young black campaign workers “hoodlums” at early voting on Tuesday. A volunteer working for a non-Hallandale Beach candidate told REDBROWARD that Lazarow called the men “hoodlums” after they spoke with a worker for Hallandale Beach Commissioner Anabelle Lima-Taub. Lazarow and her controversial lobbyist/consultant Evan Ross have attacked Lima-Taub for more than a year for her support of Hallandale Beach Police among other issues.

After asking this reporter if he was drinking, Lazarow said the men were lying. Lazarow denied calling them “hoodlums.” Both men were six feet away from Lazarow when she made her denial.

A frustrated Lazarow decided to flee the scene instead of discussing the matter further with the witnesses.

Of note, Lazarow handed her campaign materials to Hallandale Beach candidate Cynthia Cabrera.

Cabrera is running against Lima-Taub. She is featured prominently in attacks on Lima-Taub by a political committee operated by Evan Ross.

Earlier Tuesday, Cabrera told REDBROWARD she has no relationship with Evan Ross, his committee or Michele Lazarow.

  1. Michele Lazarow is far from racist. She’s honest, fair and, competent . She’s what our city needs. I could sense her frustration. Her signs have been trashed or painted over. She’s been improperly portrayed by other candidates who do employ THUGGISH tactics, including lying and bullying. Stay strong Michel Lazarow. Hallandale needs you.
