Local 10 News Editorial: Solution For “Emergency Situation” With Fort Lauderdale Sewers Starts With One-Year Building Moratorium

In a broadcast editorial during its nightly news programs, WPLG Local 10 CEO Bert Medina said “enough is enough” with Fort Lauderdale’s “band-aid approach to broken sewer lines. Medina called for a one year moratorium on new development while city leaders came up with a plan to fix the failing infrastructure. A petition started by local residents calling for a similar moratorium already has more than 10,000 signatures.

On Tuesday, hapless Mayor Dean Trantalis asked his rubber-stamp Infrastructure Taskforce Committee to “investigate” the need for a moratorium. Today, Trantalis spent time with an old-timey ship in Fort Lauderdale. Perhaps he was worried they’d dump their poop in the harbor?
