Sheila Alu
Looks like Nezar Hamze and CAIR of South Florida may have a new politician to complain about. Sunrise Commissioner Sheila Alu put the kibosh on a Muslim animal sacrifice. Alu explained the situation to the Sun-Sentinel:
“‘Yes, I was trying to stop it,’ Alu said on Wednesday. ‘It’s shut down. I’m trying to protect innocent animals. This is not an appropriate setting for the slaughtering of animals in an open field in a city that’s as populated as Sunrise. Usually these religious ceremonies take place in a rural area.'”
Ms. Alu, an attorney in Mike Satz’s office, has announced plans to run for Broward County Commission. Needless to say Ms. Alu’s actions did not sit well with Nezar Hamze, director of CAIR in South Florida. Hamze told the Sun-Sentinel:
“‘Wow,’ Hamze said. ‘That is very upsetting. We’ll find another venue. But that’s very disturbing. I’m very disappointed in that. We asked for permission and went through the proper channels and now it’s off because a commissioner has a problem with it.’“
Hamze explained the planned scarifice was part of a religious holiday:
“‘The meat is sacrificed according to state and Islamic law,’ Hamze said. ‘There is no bloodbath. It’s very humane. It’s a slit on the throat real quick. And they bleed out in a couple seconds. The animals do not suffer.‘”
Mr. Hamze, a well known critic of Congressman Allen West and Senate candidate Adam Hasner, may have a new target for his protests, angry letters and op-ed pieces. Last month, Hamze, with the help of a disgruntled Republican blogger, attempted to join the Broward Republican Executive Committee. Perhaps Hamze will shift his attention to joining Mitch Ceasar and the gang at the Broward DEC?
Alu was quick to launch her damage control. She claimed this had nothing to do with islam or muslim practices. She said she was just a concerned animal lover:
” ‘I have no ill will toward the Muslim faith,’ she said. ‘I’m just an animal lover.’
After learning that there were no legal grounds for blocking the ceremony, Alu said she contacted a man who works for the owners to verify that they were allowing the ceremony. She said he told her they were not aware the event was taking place on their property and that the caretaker had improperly given permission for the ceremony.
“I don’t want to interfere with anyone’s religious beliefs, but if you want to slaughter animals it should be done in a slaughterhouse,” Alu said. She says she believes it is inhumane to slaughter the animals in a field. “They stab them in the throat. It’s horrible.”
‘I’m not a vegetarian,’ she said. ‘I just don’t agree with the inhumane treatment of animals. Looking at how they’re slaughtered brings tears to my eyes.’ “
Hamze bought her excuse hook, line and sinker. ” ‘I truly believe she’s just a big animal lover,…and I don’t believe she meant any malice toward the Muslim community.'”
Funny how he takes the word of a Democrat at face value. He was quick to complain about his fellow Republicans to the national media. Only in Broward.
QUESTION? Was this animal a cat, a dog, a lamb, a calf, a pig, a RAT, a snake, or what?

Ms. Sheila Alu, At least, we have this important cause in common. I surely hope the muslims don’t plan killing animals anywhere else in Florida. Everyone should alert their City officials to be aware of this horrible practice. Not only do the musllims want to kill infidels (me), they want to slit the throats of innocent animals. As one patriot says, “Buy more ammo”, and another says, “lock and load”. Are we next to have our throats slit in a field? Better watch your children, lock your doors and look over your shoulders.
You’re an idiot! It is tradition for a lamb or sheep to be slaughtered. This is the Festival and Feast of Eid al Adha, and since you’re closed minded to understand cultures and religions of the world, I will simply explain that this is a celebration of rememberence of the sacrifice that Abraham was going to make when God tested him. The animals are sacrificed, and the meat is divided three ways, to be given to family, neighbors and the poor. As for Alu, she’s just an ignorant…and as soon as she realized that this practice was protected under law, she tried squirming around other ways…and then pretends to be animal lover. Why don’t you ask her what she’s having for thanksgiving?
Sheila, please do not back down from these devil inspired heathens. Michael Vick served time for torturing and killing dogs. I would have hung him on the spot, however. Please STOP this slaughter .
The animals are not tortured. Are you an idiot? Don’t say “stop the slaughter” and then have yourself a nice turkey on thanksgiving. Michael Vick was raising dogs to fights and tear one another apart so he could gain finacial gain. The animals sacrificed on Eid are divided into three portions, amongst family, neighbors adn the poor. It is a feast and festival. Either you should go vegetarian or shut the hell up!
Seriously, what if people put pressure to end the celebration of Easter because they viewed it as idolizing murder and death. What if people who didn’t share chritsian beliefs saw Easter as a disgusting practice because they can’t grasp the idea that it is part of the foundation of Christianity…that Jesus “died for our sins.” It would probably piss you off, right? Before you blindly start attacking, educate yourself.
