At tonight’s Republican Business Network meeting, Teacher Of The Year Robert Sutton announced that Broward GOP chairman saved Broward Teachers 3% of their salary.

Sutton was alarmed when he heard that the School Board of Broward County was going to deduct the 3% and blame it on Rick Scott.

After futile attempts to get answers from District officials an union stewards, Sutton contacted DeNapoli.

After multiple phone calls and emails, DeNapoli reached an official in Tallahassee who stated that teachers should NOT be charged another 3%.

I just don’t get it. Virtually everyone contributes at least 3% to their pension, including all other government pensions other than FRS in Florida. I was literally shocked that the Florida Retirement System (FRS) may be the only one left IN THE COUNTRY that doesn’t. This is one time that I agreed with the Republicans and believed they were right.

Now you are telling me that Republicans want to support a free-bee. A give-away. Well there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Someone has to pay, and the person getting the benefit should help to keep the system fiscally sound.

Do me a favor, do it with someone else’s money.

    Mr Independent,

Read the article – it talks about ANOTHER 3% on top of what was already taken. Nothing wrong with taking the initial 3%.
