“The District has initiated reforms prior to the release of this report for example, restructuring selection committees to maximize transparency; Board attending an Ethics workshop by Mr. Claypool, Executive Director and General Counsel of the Florida Ethics Commission, completing final draft for Board review of a comprehensive Ethics policy and related required training for Board and employees; and strengthening reporting requirements in existing lobbyist policy. We will continue to take actions to restore public trust in our educational system.”
–Jim Notter’s response to Grand Jury
Shame on you. No, not the School Board. Shame on all the good Republicans, Democrats and Independents who have ignored the School Board mess.
Do you have an opinion on the dispute in Wisconsin? Are you glued to Fox News, MSNBC, Drudge and HuffPo? You ready to join the tea party forces or maybe the union thugs in Madison?
Well, where’s your outrage about Broward Schools? Could you name the Board members without looking at the picture? Do you realize they are the biggest employer in Broward? Do you realize the vast amounts of money at their disposal?
Sure I’ve heard some Republican voices and a few Democrat ones too, but where’s the outrage from the Broward DEC? Mitch Ceasar has an opinion on Wisconsin, so why so silent on the Broward corruption? Do some research, find out who lobbies the School Board on behalf on many Broward cities.
But this isn’t a GOP/DEM thing. Good, honest Republicans and Democrats need to join forces to clean up this mess. We need to do our homework and share information.
Ask yourself, why are School Board candidates supporting municipal candidates? Is it purely a partisan thing or do they want cronies covering their backs throughout Broward?
Make no mistake, a huge political machine is operating in our hometown. We have let it hurt our families and neighbors for far too long. It is harming the futures of our kids and nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
We share the blame. We share the shame. Can we share the hard work needed to save our county?
