Fort Lauderdale–Former Congressman E. Clay Shaw, Jr. spoke before the Broward Republican Executive Committee on Monday night. Congressman Shaw, former mayor of Fort Lauderdale, discussed a variety of topics impacting the 2012 elections. Accompanied by his wife of fifty years, Shaw showed why he remains a top expert on Social Security. He gave details of his attempts to solve the Social Security mess; Attempts that were thwarted by politics-as-usual.
Congressman Shaw remarked on the 2010 elections, specifically the victory of Allen West. Shaw said he has talked to West many times on the issues affecting Broward county. Shaw was impressed by West’s first weeks in Washington, D.C. Shaw stated that West is on track to be the first African-American Speaker of the House.
Mr. Shaw gave some insight on the 2012 elections as well. He believes that Florida Republicans, if united, can send Bill Nelson into involuntary retirement. He mentioned a few of the GOP candidates for U.S. Senate; While not exactly an endorsement, Shaw believes that Jeb Bush would have the best shot at defeating Nelson.
Shaw’s overriding message was the need to Broward Republicans to get to work right now in order to stop Obama and Nelson in 2012.

Jeb would definitely be the best candidate.
