Ann Murray came out of hiding on Thursday to speak with Rafael Olmeda at the Sun-Sentinel.
“If you were standing there with me and heard the regret in my voice, you would know I understand” why some in the black community are so upset, Murray said. “I sincerely felt what they [her offended co-workers] felt. I was upset and annoyed with myself that I was so stupid to say such a stupid thing.”
“Murray flatly denied Stevens’ account of their conversation but declined to offer her own version.”
“Murray said Thursday she never saw her colleagues’ written complaints until recently. The reprimand she signed, which also went into her personnel file, did not describe the incident in detail.”
