Rules for BREC Candidate Forum

These are the rules for the upcoming BREC Candidate Forum ( Monday November 29th at 6:30p.m.) Sounds like they’re expecting rowdy Democrats to show up.

“This event is NOT a debate.  This forum is for informative purposes only.

  • NO questions will be allowed during the candidates speaking time.
  • NO interruptions will be tolerated by anyone.
  • NO video equipment will be allowed.
  • NO recording devices will be permitted at anytime.
  • NO derogatory materials will be handed out by candidates or attendees.”

There will be an opportunity for questions. Candidates will go to different corners of the rooms for Q&A. This forum, sponsored by Sunshine Republicans and the Broward Republican Women’s Club Federated. will be held at Fort Lauderdale City Hall.

LOL!!! I was told that Richard DeNopli called and did not want to take questions from the people on the floor. What is this candidate afraid of? If he wants to represent us then why cant we have a one on one discussion from the people in front of the people? Hmmmmmmmm????

  2. Sorry my mistake. Both candidates Tom and Richard did not want to take question from the floor at the RBN meeting but agreed to take questions from the people on a written piece of paper taken from a box.

  4. Unfortunately, a lot of debates seem to follow the “written question pulled from hat” format. I think a candidate should be able to answer questions from anyone. If an audience member misbehaves or starts pontificating they should get the boot.

I don’t mind the four corners/speed dating format; gives people a chance to be heard in a less formal setting. Some people are too shy to stand up and ask questions.
