Statement from RPOF Chairman Bitner on Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Tallahassee—Republican Party of Florida Chairman Dave Bitner released the following statement today regarding the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday:

“Today we celebrate freedom. In remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., community service projects across the nation allow Americans to ‘take the day on’ instead of taking the day off.”

“Here in Florida, grassroots Republicans took a big step over the weekend by electing a new Republican Party of Florida Executive Board, and one of our first orders of business will be refocusing our efforts to reach out to new voters of all backgrounds.  Under Republican leaders like Governor Rick Scott and Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll, the Republican Party of Florida will bring African Americans and all voters who believe in family, faith, and freedom home to our Party.”

“Today, we serve our communities and celebrate the enduring achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Tomorrow, we get back to work.”
