On Saturday night, Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis celebrated “CAIR Day” at a Coral Springs Marriott Hotel alongside highly-controversial Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN). A member of the progressive “Squad,” Omar was the guest of honor at the annual Council On American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Florida banquet. Ortis travelled to Coral Springs to read a proclamation.

Ortis told Ilhan Omar and a few hundred guests how Pembroke Pines was set to become the largest city in the State of Florida. Since he is up for re-election in March 2020, Ortis came to pander to the crowd. He said he just formed a “diversity and heritage” committee to make Pembroke Pines the most diverse city in Florida.

Ortis said it was his “honor and pleasure” to present this proclamation in front of the supporters of CAIR.

Ortis called CAIR the largest muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.

In proclaiming October 26, 2019 “CAIR Day in the City of Pembroke Pines,” Mayor Frank Ortis called on “All citizens to join us in recognizing and commending CAIR Florida for providing legal services for those whose civil liberties have been threatened and for interrupting Islamophobia and prejudice in our community.

Ortis made no mention of Ilhan Omar’s controversial comments regarding the September 11th attacks or Israel.

DEMOCRAT LOBBYIST HOPPING MAD WITH FRANK ORTIS

In Sunday evening Facebook post, Mayor Frank Ortis wrote how he presented the proclamation to the CAIR banquet. Ortis included a few photographs of the event. One Democrat was quick to comment.

Evan Ross, the controversial lobbyist entrenched in Hallandale Beach politics, was quick to respond to Ortis. Ross wrote, “CAIR is an antisemitic, anti-Israel group that has been linked to terrorist organization, Hamas. They don’t deserve your support. They deserve your absolute condemnation.” Ross included a link to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) detailing information regarding CAIR and Hamas.

Hours later, Ortis’ Facebook post is no longer visible on his timeline.

TEAM JAY SCHWARTZ?

Why would Frank Ortis travel all the way to Coral Springs to deliver a proclamation from the City Of Pembroke Pines? Perhaps Pembroke Pines Commissioner Jay Schwartz played a role in this? As REDBROWARD has documented over the years, Jay Schwartz loves pandering to the local muslim community.

In 2016, just days before the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America, Commissioner Schwartz wanted to create “Muslim Heritage Month” modeled on a resolution from the School Board of Broward County which created the “Muslim Heritage Month” in local schools. Schwartz’s Muslim Heritage Month would have replaced a celebration of Jewish Heritage.

Earlier this year, Jay Schwartz was a staunch supporter of Khurrum Wahid, a Coral Springs Commission candidate. Wahid has official ties with CAIR and Emgage, a pro-Muslim political committee.

The latest issue of Al-Hikmat, a “international muslim magazine” features Schwartz and Ortis. In addition to advertisements for local “Sharia compliant” businesses, the magazine includes several photographs of Schwartz. An article mentions a January 2019 “clergy day” meeting hosted by Ortis.

According to the wife of Mayor Ortis, Jay Schwartz is a member of the “trio.” In September, Mrs. Ortis posted a photograph of Frank Ortis, Jay Schwartz and fellow commissioner Iris Siple on Facebook. In a caption, she wrote, “The great Pembroke Pines Trio! Let us make sure to re-elect such a positive, dedicated team! #4moreyears”
