Earlier today, Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC) members received an email attacking a supporter of Chairman Robert Sutton. Sent from the “BREC4Change” email account, the piece promised an upcoming hit piece on the BREC legal counsel. The anonymous email was not an authorized communication.

In a telephone conversation with a Broward Republican, controversial BREC member Rupert Tarsey discusses firsthand knowledge of the hit piece plus upcoming attacks on other members including this reporter. As REDBROWARD previously reported, Rupert Tarsey hopes to remove Chairman Sutton and become the new leader of the Broward Republican Party.

Tarsey’s chances were hurt after his 2007 attack on a female classmate made international headlines. Tarsey, then known as Rupert Tumin Ditsworth, was charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Regarding the news of criminal past, Tarsey boasted that BREC members still love him. “If there was a secretary election tomorrow, and I ran, I’d bet a million dollars that I’d win,” Tarsey said. “I would have no doubt that I would win.”

Regarding the attack emails, Tarsey said, “I can do the same thing with news articles and that’s going to be happening. Obviously this is going to be going on for a while and I have more funds, so it’s not really a problem for me.”

Tarsey stated he would never back down. “I’ve been attacked a lot so obviously, you know, there’s going to be lots more media stuff,” Tarsey said. “Obviously I’m not going to let it slide. I’m not going to let all the attacks they’ve done just slide.”

Clearly, party loyalty doesn’t come first in Rupert Tarsey World.
