Longtime Broward Republican Committeeman Robert “Bob” Knox died last week. Originally from New Jersey, he lived in Plantation with his beloved wife Marcia. Knox, a Boston University graduate, was the vice president of the Republican Club of Central Broward and the founder of the non-partisan American Citizens League.
Bob loved to talk about national politics. He worked tirelessly to help elect President Donald Trump. Bob was a regular campaign volunteer for US Congressional candidate Joe Kaufman. Bob brought in national figures like Roger Stone to speak to his clubs.
Bob Knox was a true patriot. He supported the military and veterans’ group such as the WWII Honor Flight.
But Bob Knox never forgot about local politics. Knox loved to email Broward County Commissioners about issues affecting his community. Bob was a regular at Plantation city council meetings. Knox actively recruited local candidates and supported ones that he felt deserved to sit on the dais.
Knox was instrumental in the November election victories of Plantation Councilmen Jerry Fadgen and Mark Hyatt.
Bob Knox cared about judges too. We had many discussions over breakfast at the diner about who belonged on the bench. Last summer, nearly every judicial candidate attended Bob Knox’s forum. Bob did his homework and took pride in his list of recommendations.
No matter the venue or the occasion, if Bob Knox was there, I knew I was not alone. Bob was a great supporter of this site.
Bob was a good friend of this reporter. I will miss him.
Prayers and condolences to Marcia, his children and all his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Bob.
